The Corona Virus, and new opportunities this Summer at Chisholme

Monday, 1st June, 2020

Return

In line with government guidelines, Chisholme closed its doors to all visitors, students and volunteers in mid March. Courses and volunteer weeks are cancelled for the foreseeable future.

In March, all present at Chisholme underwent a voluntary period of quarantine which ended on March 27th. This seemed a very basic responsibility we owe to all who want to come later this year. The current information suggests the virus is expected to peak in late May early June, after which it might be possible to re-open as normal. Other scenarios suggest a much longer lock down. We’ll have to wait and see.

However, this situation, far from being a negative thing, presents us with a unique opportunity. Once the current complete lockdown has been lifted, we hope to welcome those of you who are able and prepared to stay at least until the virus pandemic is receding. You will be asked to undertake a basic 7 day quarantine process on arrival.

If you would wish to come and be here for a potentially very productive longer term then please get in touch as soon as possible to discuss how this can happen for the benefit of all. There is much to be discovered here at the moment in terms of the meaning of the place and its wider cultural purpose as well as a great deal to do, to prepare for the future.

We look forward to hearing from you.
