As a volunteer at Chisholme you are appreciated for who you are, not only for what you do

The month of May is one of the nicest times to spend time at Chisholme.
Come and help prepare the organic garden for the growing season.
Activities will be varied, with the opportunity to work in other areas such as in the woodland, house and kitchen. You will be living and working in a place dedicated to supporting the discovery of your own potential.

Due to Covid regulations we are running our volunteer program this May
over three weeks:

It starts with 7 days of quarantine, free of charge
This is followed by either two weeks or one week of volunteering
In addition we will offer a two day course on ‘Discovering Unity’ (optional)

Financial contribution

Quarantine + two weeks is £180, or £120 (students/unwaged)
Quarantine + one week is £100 or £60 (students/unwaged)
Two day Discovering Unity course: additional £50 (You don't need to book for this before arrival.)

Chisholme is a school
The guiding principle of the education is the essential Unity of all Existence.
This is a wholly inclusive perspective, not limited by dogma or religious considerations. You can read more about it here.

So in addition to working with your hands you are invited to take part in ongoing conversation and study, meditation and other activities, to give space for yourself and your own questions.
You will also enjoy great food, good company and the chance to explore the beautiful countryside around Chisholme.

The hope is that you will leave with more than you came: new friends, new skills (such as gardening or cooking) and perhaps a new understanding of yourself.

Discovering Unity
In addition we will offer a couple of days devoted to ‘Discovering Unity’.
The understanding that all is essentially one is to be found in many of the world’s great wisdom traditions.
How can we come to realise this truth in ourselves?
Hopefully, the two days will give you a taste for a new way to understand your life, and provide inspiration for your own voyage of self-discovery.

These two days are optional to your volunteer programme (additional cost of £50). You don't have to pay in advance for this and can decide once you are at Chisholme if you would like to take part.

The quarantine period
To keep you and everyone else at Chisholme safe, we are asking you to quarantine for 7 days here, free of charge. You will be fully supported throughout this period; there'll be number of activities available in the garden and woodland and three meals a day provided.
Social-distancing will be an essential requirement for this time. This is for the protection of those already living here and for yourself, as there will be others in quarantine with you.

Accommodation
After the quarantine period in single rooms the accommodation is shared, in double, triple or dormitory style rooms.

Arrival Times:
Three Weeks start date: 2 May
Two weeks start date: 9 May
End date: 21 May

The programme will start on Sunday 2nd, but you are welcome to arrive on the Saturday 1st if necessary.

To secure your place, please either pay the full amount or a deposit of £50 as soon as Chisholme has been able to confirm your place.

The initial quarantine week is free of charge because we are asking you to serve that time for us. You are only paying for the time out of quarantine, one or two weeks. Please pay the full course fee (one or two weeks) at least one week before arrival.

Volunteer weeks are subsidized. Your contribution goes towards the basic costs of your stay which includes accommodation, all your food, tea and coffee, your laundry, and instruction in new skills. Additional funding comes from our Volunteer Fund. If you are unable to pay or cannot pay the whole amount, then please do not hesitate to write to secretary@chisholme.org to discuss your circumstances.

Volunteers are a vital part of life at Chisholme. The School could not have been built, nor maintained over the last forty years, without the support of many dedicated volunteers
