Return

Volunteers are invited to join us for a week of tree planting and forestry maintenance.
Come for as long as you can.

Two thirds of the Chisholme estate consists of woodland, now being replanted with a range of native species – oak, birch, alder, rowan, crab-apple and wild cherry as well as more shrubby species – hazel, hawthorn, yew and holly. The young trees were planted by hand, staking and tying and protecting them with forestry shelters – all of which adds to the ecology and beauty of the estate.

This year there will a range of tasks during the Forestry Week:

  • Plenty of planting young trees, filling gaps and adding new areas around the Estate – maintenance work on the existing woodland – taking shelters from trees planted some years ago and growing well and other seasonal tasks – processing timber for fuel for the wood boiler for House and Steading. And other delights in store.

As in previous years, Peter and Ben will be in charge and looking after everything!

So, do come and join us.
