5 Days of Building a Yurt
Between the Forestry Week in March and the Garden Weeks in April, we will be assembling a new round-pole ash yurt to join the four others in the Yurt Village. This will be an entirely hand-made structure, whereas the laths and poles of the others were machined.
The laths and the roof poles were prepared some years ago, but the yurt was not completed at the time. The components will need some cleaning up, then the laths assembled into wall trellises, and the roof poles drilled and laced.
If we have time, we hope also to build another yurt platform.
Ideally, we are looking for a team of five or six volunteers to do the work. No prior yurt building experience is necessary, but some manual dexterity would be an advantage…

COSTS
We suggest a small contribution towards the cost of your stay of £15 per day or £10 for students and unwaged.
Full board and delicious food is included.

About the courses at Chisholme
All courses at Chisholme, however much their formats differ, begin with the principle of the absolute unity of existence, in view of which unity all life, in whatever sphere, is interconnected and interdependent.
If this is so, then who and what am I? Is it possible for me to come to know my reality and place within the one absolute existence? And what is the way forward, to know myself within the context of unity? That such knowledge is possible, and that there is indeed a way towards it is the reason for all courses that Chisholme offers.
There are different lengths of courses at Chisholme. From a weekend to six months, the course comprises a beginning, a middle and an end and has a continuity of participants throughout. Each participant begins at the same starting point as every other, and all complete the course together. To begin at the beginning, it is important that each participant, whatever their prior learning and experience, enters upon the course with ‘beginner’s mind’, as far as possible putting aside all previous understandings, with a freshness of intent and enquiry.
This kind of knowledge cannot be taught as such, and for this reason Chisholme has no teachers. Rather, this knowledge is within each of us already and reveals itself as and when we are ready, when the time is right. Chisholme’s courses aim to provide the best circumstances for each participant to approach this transformational moment, whether during the course or in the future.
Each person’s journey to self-knowledge will be different.

Love and Knowledge in the Light of Unity | the Direct Path
Beshara Trust Foundation Blended Learning Course
16th October 2026 – 18 March 2027
We take great pleasure in presenting the latest iteration following two very successful previous versions. The course comprises fortnightly Zoom sessions, videos by experienced presenters and various tasks and practices. It opens with a residential weekend at Sutton Courtenay Abbey in Oxfordshire UK, which can also be attended online. There is an optional residential weekend or 10 days at Chisholme House, Scotland, at the end of the course from the 1st April.
The course provides a full introduction to the principles of Beshara in terms of both knowledge and practice. Taking the metaphysics of Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi as a starting point, the course explores what it means to understand oneself and the world in the light of the Unity of Existence.
