The Kitchen Garden
The beautiful walled kitchen garden is a central part of the life of Chisholme. Throughout the year a succession of vegetables and fruit is produced for the Chisholme Kitchen. The Journey from earth to plant to kitchen to food on the table, is an essential part of the education at Chisholme, and given respect at each stage. The (nearly) organic garden is a place of beauty and birdsong and hard work and enjoyment, and students and volunteers are invited participate in this.

You are most welcome to come and volunteer at other times – just email secretary@chisholme.org to arrange this

The tasks this month
At this time everything is in maximum growth – both the plants we want and the plants we don’t want. So there’s plenty to do tending to the one and weeding out the other. Long hours of daylight – beautiful to be outside and working. There’s more to plant out – leeks and brassicas, and tending and tying up all the summer crops in the tunnels, there’s lots to be harvested and eaten and weeding! Plenty to do; plenty to learn about – what could be better.

Garden Volunteers
We suggest a small contribution towards the cost of your stay of £15 per day or £10 for students and unwaged. Please contact us to discuss details and payment options.
