The intention this winter
Thursday 1st October, 2026 marked the beginning of the winter period at Chisholme.
Following zikr on Thursday evening, residents met on the Friday morning to enquire into how the winter months might best unfold and to set the intention towards the Six-month Winter Course now proposed to begin on 1st October 2027.

Although the Six-month Course is not taking place this winter we were each invited to consider our intention at this time and were reminded of the following:
‘And you, if you want to observe the Beauty of the Real Beloved, initiate your intention to the love of God, according to ‘I was a hidden treasure and I loved to be known…’
From the Introduction to the Fusus al Hikam, by Ibn ‘Arabi
There are several expressions of interest for the 2026/27 course, and we aim to support these prospective students over the coming year with an ongoing programme of study, work, meditation and zikr. Further, we would like to hear from others who wish to join this time of focus, whether or not there is a prospect of their joining the course in October 2027.
So, the wider invitation this winter, rather than coming to 'volunteer' at Chisholme, is to come and engage directly with others in love of learning and service to Reality.
To those who hear the invitation, Come!

Love and Knowledge in the Light of Unity | the Direct Path
Beshara Trust Foundation Blended Learning Course
16th October 2026 – 18 March 2027
We take great pleasure in presenting the latest iteration following two very successful previous versions. The course comprises fortnightly Zoom sessions, videos by experienced presenters and various tasks and practices. It opens with a residential weekend at Sutton Courtenay Abbey in Oxfordshire UK, which can also be attended online. This will be followed at the end of the course by an optional residential weekend and/or 10 days at Chisholme House, Scotland, beginning on the 1st April.
The course provides a full introduction to the principles of Beshara in terms of both knowledge and practice. Taking the metaphysics of Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi as a starting point, the course explores what it means to understand oneself and the world in the light of the Unity of Existence.
