There is currently a proposal from a wind farm company to build a series of large turbines in the Borthwick Valley from below Chapel Hill along the valley as far as Eilrig and Craik Forest.
The company is called Invenergy (invenergy.com) and there was a meeting recently at Chisholme with their representatives and those at Chisholme with an appreciation of the estate, the location and its various needs – water sources, environmental impact and much more.
This meeting was for information gathering only.
Invenergy is currently undertaking surveys, feasibility studies, an environmental assessment and local and national consultation. Depending on the outcome of these they would apply for planning consent toward the end of 2025, with possible construction starting in 2030. The wind farm could be fully functional in 2033.
If you would like to see the minutes of the meeting at Chisholme, maps and further details please get in touch with Hamid von Koten by email to mail@chisholme.org with ‘Windfarm’ in the subject line.
