Mid Hill Wind Turbines: Planning Proposal
Jethro Flowers | Saturday, 17th January, 2026

Further to the update posted in December, a Heritage Impact Assessment commissioned by Chisholme will be submitted to the Scottish Government by 31 January.

The above visualisation was prepared as an indication of the visual impact of the turbines as part of the Heritage Impact Assessment.

January 31 is also the deadline for submitting any objections to the Invenergy planning proposal.

Invenergy have submitted their application to the Energy Consent Unit (ECU). Their full document is on the ECU website.
https://www.energyconsents.scot/ApplicationDetails.aspx?cr=ECU00005192&T=9

They are now proposing 13 turbines, each with a height of 200 metres which far exceeds the height of any existing turbines in the Borders.
According to the visualisation above, even from a distance of 2km, two of these (T12 & T13) will be clearly visible on the skyline from within the house and from the front lawn.
All 13 will be visible from the Monument and will also impact the approach to Chisholme.

Invenergy’s application will now be decided by the Scottish Ministers

Should you have any objections to this proposal please send an email by 31 January at the very latest to:

representations@gov.scot

What to include:

  • Your full name (in block capitals)
  • Your full postal address
  • Your return email address
  • The ECU reference number: ECU00005192
  • A clear statement that you are objecting

Example subject line:
Objection to Mid Hill Wind Farm – Application ECU00005192

Some considerations:

  • Direct visual impact on a Grade B Listed Building (Chisholme House)
  • Visual impact on landscape: Effects on scenic views, local character, and setting
  • Noise & Shadow Flicker: Potential noise levels and shadow flicker from blades
  • Aviation lighting at night
  • Traffic: Impact of construction traffic on local roads
  • Ecology/Wildlife: Effects on birds, bats, and habitats

Note: You can submit your views as part of Chisholme’s wider stakeholder community, whether you are resident in the area or not.

If you would like more information please email secretary@chisholme.org

Some of you might not be aware of the impact this proposal will have on Chisholme. I believe all who are concerned with Chisholme can make a valid objection should they wish to do so.
